Brazilian Forest Infrastructure and Logistics Meeting
The Encontro Brasileiro de Infraestrutura e Logística Florestal (Brazilian Forest Infrastructure and Logistics Meeting) aims to provide a platform for the gathering of technicians and engineers from forestry enterprises and public institutions to discuss a range of themes related to infrastructure and logistics in the forestry sector.
The themes related to infrastructure discussed in the event include planning, building and maintaing forest roads, as well as the link between road networks and productivity in the forest sector. For its second edition, the scope of the chosen subjects was broadened in order to include logistics as well, with such topics as challenges, tendencies and perspectives in logistics and forest transportation.
Adding logistics to the event was crucial, for it ensures constant supply of raw materials for clients. The synergy between these two fields – infrastructure and logistics – is what results in the guaranteed success of forest operations.
The second edition, held on October 6-7th 2016 in Curitiba (state of Paraná), is divided into four main blocks: Current Economic Scenario – Tendencies and Perspectives for Logistics and Forest Transportation; Challenges in Forest Products Logistics; Road Planning, Building and Maintenance Techniques; and the Link Between Road Networks and Forest Productivity.
In its first edition, also held in Curitiba, on October 2013, over 220 professionals attended and were able to access information about forest road network certification, the advantages of good planning, costs and public policies, and new techniques and technologies. The Brazilian Meeting of Forest Infrastructure came to fill a gap in Brazil’s operational forest sector, with 18 lectures by highly specialized professionals with great technical knowledge.
