The International Timber Week, a series of seven events meant to strengthen unite the Brazilian and global wood sector, takes place in September in Brazil
The wood sector is a key player in the Brazilian industry, and it involves a complex chain of production and countless separate elements working together. It employs professionals of varied backgrounds and skills and demands constant technological advancements so that it may keep pushing the national economy forward. With the goal of strengthening communications and synergy within the many different businesses which form the timber market, Malinovski presents the second edition of the International Timber Week, to be held in Curitiba (Paraná state), from September 17th to 22nd.
In order to provide a comprehensive overview of the multitude of markets and companies tied to the Brazilian and global wood sectors, the International Timber Week is formed by seven events, each encompassing different trends and topics of interest to the professionals working in these fields.
Lignum Brazil– Wood Processing, Preservation, Energy, Biomass and Use Fair and the Timber & Construction Expo (event organized by APRE, the Association of Forestry Enterprises of Paraná) are the International Timber Week’s main events, as they showcase trends in cutting-edge technology for the timber processing market and for timber use in construction. In the International Timber Week’s first edition, these two events brought 71 exhibitors and over 5,100 visitors from 11 countries and 22 Brazilian states, resulting in over R$ 53 million in closed business deals. Together, they managed to reunite and strengthen the Brazilian wood sector.
The 2nd WoodTrade Brazil, an event organized by Abimci (the Brazilian Association of Mechanically Processed Wood Industries), FIEP (Federation of Paraná State Industries) and Malinovski will once again provide a platform in which forest owners and professionals from the industrial wood sector will have access to lectures by renowned experts from different countries, exchanging information and debating future scenarios. Likewise, the 2nd Brazilian Wood Energy Meeting will allow these professionals to learn about new case studies presented by equally experienced lecturers. The event is exclusively focused on the use of wood as an energy source.
Two new events were created to increase the reach of the International Timber Week, filling important gaps in response to market demands: WoodProtection – South American Conference on Wood Protection Technologies and ProWood – South American Conference on Wood Processing and Beneficiation Technologies. The first aims to provide professional updating and showcase new trends in the wood protection market, whereas the second will bring technology available in the national and global markets in order to help improve industrial operations in the Brazilian wood sector, which still has much to learn from international markets.
The final event is the Timber & Construction Symposium, organized by APRE, which comes to its fourth edition with the goal of broadening knowledge and strengthening the role of timber as the raw material of the future, as one of the most important platforms for discussing these themes in Brazil.
These seven events, which together make up the second edition of the International Timber Week, will strive to truly unite the entire industrial timber sector. The synergy between myriad different players will once again demonstrate the power of wood to the Brazilian and international markets.
